As the Notebook PC Enters the DDR3 Era, Apacer Technologies Announces the Launch of a New DDR3-1333/1066 MHz SO-DIMM Memory Module Specially Designed for High-end Laptops

TAIPEI, Taiwan, July. 30, 2008 Apacer Technologies has introduced a new DDR3-1333/1066 SO-DIMM memory module for high-end laptops that supports Intel's new-generation Intel Montevina Centrino 2 notebook PC platform. The Intel Montevina, which uses the 45-nm Penryn processor and the new Cantiga chipset, can support the latest DDR3 memory module specifications. The Montevina is the first Intel notebook PC platform to provide support for DDR3.
Apacer's new DDR3 1333/1066 MHz memory module for high-end laptops is available in 1GB and 2GB versions. The new module uses the latest DDR3 memory module production process technology, with a 204-pin, 1GB 128Mx8 architecture (unlike the 200-pin architecture used in DDR2 modules). The working voltage has been reduced from 1.8V with DDR2 to 1.5V, making for a 20% reduction in laptop power consumption, and a significant improvement in battery standby time between charges.
DDR3 helps notebook PCs to achieve outstanding performance and superior energy-saving characteristics. By comparison with DDR2-800 SO-DIMM memory modules, Apacer's new DDR3 1333/1066 MHz SO-DIMM module provides higher performance and lower power consumption, making it ideally suited for use in laptops, where these characteristics are vitally important.
